In my opinion, Martin's are the top production acoustic guitars Available today. My JC-16RE Aura is no exception. This guitar has the full bright sound characteristic of it's solid spruce top and Rosewood back and sides. Unplugged the JC-16 projects nicely into a gymnasium sized room. Plugged in the Aura system is unmatched in tonal quality.My guitar was purchased from Great Divide Music in Aspen and it is a guitar I fully intend to play for the rest of my life. It fits comfortably into any setting (live, recording, or jamming in the living room). The Martin neck is consistent and comfortable. The playability of the neck allows for smooth finger style work along technical soloing.
My tonal preference runs to the brightness of smaller body guitars, however, the JC-16 is wonderfully bright and yet the increased size(relative to an auditorium or orchestra model) gives the tone a great depth and fullness.
The Martin JC-16RGTE debuted in 2006 and the current iteration is the JC-16RE boasting many of the same features including the updated Aura sound imaging system with programmable EQ. I would fully recommend this high quality instrument to anyone looking for a versatile guitar suitable for professional and amateur use alike.
