Paravellum Music Publishing
Para (“for” in Spanish, "like" in Latin, and "beside" as a prefix). Vellum a leather for writing on; before archival quality paper it was used for important documents (presidential commissions), treaties, spiritual works, etc. There are also other ideas buried within the word, Paravel as in Cair Paravel the Narnian castle where the Penevsie children ruled. Para Bellum is a Latin phrase and also references a pistol cartridge. Put all these ideas into a Cuisinart and you get Paravellum.
Paravellum.com exists as the creative outlet for Yuani Ruiz. It is a place for him to share his music and a place for him to support other musicians by giving them an audience for their work.
About Yuani Ruiz
Yuani Ruiz was born in Costa Rica, raised in Iowa, and now makes his home in the mountains of Western Colorado. As a house rule he always had to play an instrument while growing up. Yuani endured a long run of piano lessons and a stint playing trumpet in the middle school band. Music did not become a love until the age of 14 with the help of a shiny new electric guitar. Always a fan of the heavy overdriven guitar sounds of the hard rock and metal genre’s, Yuani did what many other aspiring rock god’s do, practice the riffs of the greats. Fun as it was, riffing and playing other people’s songs were always hard as Yuani always needed to play them in his own way. Changing other people’s songs slowly led to writing his own music. Yuani writes songs about his life, experiences, and what he sees around him. Heading into the future Yuani continues to write songs and is working slowly on the more technical aspects of recording, mixing, and mastering so that he can draw on paper the image he sees in his head.
